Juläine, explained: a different approach to collagen stimulation
Juläine is one of the newer collagen stimulating treatments I have introduced into clinic. It is a PLLA collagen biostimulator, which means its main role is to stimulate your own collagen production gradually over time.
It is sometimes described as an alternative to dermal filler, but I don’t really see it that way.
Filler and collagen biostimulators do different things, and both have an important place in aesthetic medicine. Hyaluronic acid filler allows us to restore volume, improve proportion and provide targeted structural support. Juläine works differently, stimulating new collagen formation within the tissues over time.
For some patients, one will be more appropriate than the other. For others, combining the two can give a much more comprehensive result.
So what is Juläine, and how does it work?
Juläine is based on poly-L-lactic-acid, or PLLA, a biocompatible material that has been used in medicine for many years.
Once injected, its PLLA microspheres interact with the surrounding tissues and stimulate a biological response that leads to new collagen formation.
This process doesn’t happen overnight. Collagen takes time to form and remodel, so the result develops gradually over the weeks and months following treatment. As collagen increases, we can see improvements in skin quality, firmness, structure and support.
For me, this gradual improvement is one of the things that makes collagen biostimulation so useful. It isn’t about creating an immediate change. It’s about gradually improving the quality and support of the tissues over time, for a result that looks natural and still feels like you.
Juläine vs Sculptra
One of the questions I am asked most often is how Juläine compares with Sculptra. Both are PLLA collagen biostimulators, and both work by prompting your body to produce its own collagen over time.
What drew me to Juläine is the science behind its formulation. Early research suggests it may encourage collagen through a less inflammatory pathway. Long-term comparative evidence is still evolving, but the findings so far are encouraging. That is why Juläine has become my preferred PLLA treatment: it offers the gradual, natural collagen regeneration that made Sculptra so well established, with formulation advances that I believe are a real step forward.

New patient offer
New patients can currently arrange an initial consultation with Dr Nabil at 50% off. A consultation is the starting point for any treatment: it is where your skin is assessed, your options are explained, and a plan is agreed around what is genuinely right for you. Offer availability depends on diary space at the clinic.
Frequently asked questions
What is Juläine?
Juläine is a PLLA collagen biostimulator. Rather than adding immediate volume like a filler, it stimulates the skin’s own collagen production, so results develop gradually and look naturally refreshed.
How is Juläine different from a filler?
Juläine and dermal filler do different things, and one doesn’t necessarily replace the other. Hyaluronic acid filler can be used to restore volume and provide targeted structural support, with results that are visible much sooner. Juläine works gradually by stimulating new collagen formation within the tissues. Depending on what we are trying to achieve, Dr Nabil may recommend one treatment or a combination of both.

What drew Dr Nabil to Juläine is the science behind its formulation: early research suggests it may encourage collagen through a less inflammatory pathway. Long-term comparative evidence is still evolving, but the findings so far are encouraging.
Who is Juläine suitable for?
Juläine tends to suit people who would rather look fresher and more rested than noticeably treated, and who are happy for the result to build gradually. It is commonly considered for loss of firmness, skin laxity and overall skin quality. It is not the right treatment for everyone, which is why suitability is always assessed at consultation.
How many Juläine treatments will I need?
Juläine is usually done as a course of three to four sessions, spaced a few weeks apart while your collagen rebuilds. The exact plan is confirmed at consultation based on your skin.
When will I see results from Juläine?
First results typically appear from around four to six weeks, with fuller results developing over three to six months.
How much does Juläine cost in London?
At the Dr Nabil Jetha Clinic in London, Juläine starts from £1,250 for a single session, or £3,000 for a course of three.
Is there downtime after Juläine?
Downtime is typically 24 to 72 hours. Your individual experience is discussed at consultation.
If Juläine sounds like a treatment you may benefit from, the next step is a proper assessment of your skin before anything is decided.
